Natural Gas
The Natural Gas system won the System Operational Achievement Recognition (SOAR) award from the American Public Gas Association (APGA) in 2019. This award honors natural gas utilities that demonstrate excellence in system integrity, system improvement, employee safety and workforce development.
Electric
The Electric Utility has earned the highest (Diamond) Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) designation from the American Public Power Association (APPA). The designation recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement. In 2022, we were awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Reliability from APPA recognizing Hamilton’s exceptional electric reliability for customers.
Water
The Water Utility has won numerous awards for producing excellent quality and tasting water. Hamilton’s water won the 2019 Best of the Best Taste Test from American Water Works Association (AWWA).
Public Works
In 2019 our City Garage became Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified. This certification shows our team’s commitment to quality repairs and service of the City’s Public Safety and Infrastructure fleet.
SHX
The South Hamilton Crossing (SHX) project received and Engineering Excellence Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Ohio. The award is given to projects that show uniqueness and originality; technical value to the engineering profession; social and economic considerations; complexity; and how successfully the project meet the needs, including time and budget constraints, of the client.
Water
Our City’s water has won the best tasting tap water in the world twice at the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting competition. Most recently, we won third place in 2020 and second place in 2022 for the Best Purified Drinking Water category. In 2022, Hamilton won fifth place in the Best Municipal Water category.
